gifted kid burnout
A personal concept illustration inspired by the Georgetown Voice article “Gifted Kid Burnout Is Very Real” by Nikki Farnham, depicting an exhausted child to reflect the emotional weight of unrealistic expectations.
This personal concept project is based on the Georgetown Voice article “Gifted Kid Burnout Is Very Real” by Nikki Farnham. I chose to illustrate a child who appears deeply worn out — not only physically tired, but emotionally overwhelmed. The piece highlights how gifted children often face intense pressure to excel, eventually feeling drained by the constant demand to perform and live up to expectations. Through this visual interpretation, I wanted to capture the quiet, heavy moment of burnout: a child who should be carefree, yet is burdened by stress, perfectionism, and the fear of disappointing others.
